About

First Clap is an organisation registered under India’s Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act, 1955. It is a dynamic and forward-thinking film production collective driven by a passion for cinema as both a powerful art form and a catalyst for social change. Guided by the mentorship of acclaimed Malayalam film director Shajoon Kariyal, First Clap is dedicated to nurturing new talent and providing comprehensive training in various aspects of filmmaking to the public. All mentoring and training services for the members are offered free of cost.

This mission extends from foundational workshops to hands-on production experience. A prime example of this commitment is the award-winning Malayalam feature film Pullu, a crowdfunded environmental drama produced entirely by First Clap. This unique project demonstrated the forum’s ability to bring together a community of artists and film enthusiasts to create meaningful cinema.
